Growing up with a piano in the house and a father who loved to sing laser disc Karaoke, Charles has been around music his entire life. He sang and drummed in rock/screamo bands from his late teen years to early 30’s and has toured the local scene in the Bay Area.
In 2021, Charles and his family moved to Roseville, where he and his family became involved in the local Polynesian dance group, Manuia. Wanting to keep the family bond strong, Charles took an active interest in the music side of the group. Religiously researching different groups and the music aspect of the culture, Charles’ passion for music in general resurfaced. He borrowed a drum from the studio and held on to it for about 6-8 months, without really accomplishing anything.
He has since then performed with the flagship crew from Daly City during their annual showcase, drummed at a private event in Elk Grove, and drummed with the Daly City crew during the solo dances at the 2025 Kiki Raina Tahiti Fete competition in Merced.
With a deep commitment and respect for his family, Manuia, and the culture, Charles looks forward to a future filled with new experiences, tons of learning, and a lot of Cheeeeeeehooooooooo!
Outside of all things Manuia, if he isn’t at the dance studio, you can catch him doing things for the community. Charles is actively involved in the Roseville Community, serving as the Roseville Coalition of Neighborhood Associations Vice President (RCONA) and the President of the Solaire Neighborhood Association - both being non-profit community service and volunteer-based organizations.
