We are Manuia Polynesian Revue, established in 1996 in San Francisco/Daly City, CA, originally founded by Tommy & Camille Tualaulelei. We are dedicated to preserving the music and dances of the Polynesian Islands (Hawaii, Tahiti, Samoa, New Zealand and Tonga). We’re a professional, family-oriented dance group that promotes having fun while performing, and giving our students an opportunity to share traditional island stories. We perform at several different types of functions, like community, private, and sporting events. For example, our group has been invited to perform for large organizations like Google, Genentech, San Francisco Giants, and the Golden State Warriors. Here in Rocklin, we have built a following relatively quickly since we established in March 2023. We recently performed for the Sacramento Kings, and we already have a number of other community events through the end of the year on the calendar. We are so excited to bring the culture of the Polynesian Islands to our local community, hoping to also reach potential students in the neighboring towns of Roseville, Lincoln, Loomis, basically anywhere in Placer County. We offer such a unique style of dance here in our community, come check out our classes today!
Manuia Rocklin was founded by Kristen and Fredo in March 2023, after relocating to Rocklin in 2022. With a deep love for Polynesian culture and a passion for dance, Kristen was inspired to carry on the Manuia legacy in the Greater Sacramento and Placer County areas. What began as a small, humble group meeting in the activity room at Johnson Springview Park quickly blossomed into a vibrant community of dancers eager to connect with and celebrate Polynesian heritage.
As interest grew, so did the need for better facilities. To support dancer development and provide a space with mirrors for self-correction, classes moved to Rocklin High School and occasionally Whitney High School. The energy and excitement surrounding the group continued to build, attracting girls and women of all ages.
In March 2024, Kristen and Fredo opened Manuia Rocklin’s first dedicated studio space at Blue Oaks Town Center. With a permanent home, Manuia now offers a wide variety of classes five days a week, serving all ages, skill levels, and Polynesian styles—both in the evenings and during select morning hours.
Beyond the studio, Kristen designs and handcrafts the group’s dry costumes, tailoring each look to reflect the unique spirit of the island dances they perform throughout the year.
Fredo serves as the Managing Partner of Manuia Rocklin, overseeing business operations including finance, membership, and marketing. With a professional background as an Executive Director and Administrator in the senior care industry, he brings valuable leadership and organizational skills that help support the continued growth, sustainability, and success of the studio. Fredo has also become involved with drumming at the Rocklin studio, immersing himself with the drumming and music of the Tahitian culture.
