Jaimie began dancing in 1998 with Te Mau Tamari’i A Tiare and quickly fell in love with the Polynesian culture. She competed in Reno Tahiti Fete and San Jose Tahiti Fete but her passion has always been Hula Kahiko.
Although Jaimie and her family moved to Roseville in 2017, she didn’t join Manuia’s Rocklin chapter until 2024 when a friend from the Daly City studio sent her the Rocklin schedule showing that hula had been added. It was almost like muscle memory for Jaimie because even though she hadn’t danced for 20 years, and only planned to come for hula, little did she know that she would soon attend every wahine class offered and even start learning to drum. She also recruited her daughter to dance and her husband to drum and sing.
During class, Jaimie often stepped up to assist newcomers or anyone struggling with a move. Jaimie’s knack for having things broken down led to her promotion as an assistant teacher. You can find her helping with the Wahine Hula, Keiki Beginner Hula and Vahine Beginner Ori Tahiti.
When Jaimie isn’t at the studio, you can find her baking cookies, eating sushi or snuggled up in comfy clothes reading a romance novel on her Kindle app.
